Photographer Uldis Peļņa, who is also head of the Engineering Department for the Latvian flag carrier airBaltic, will be opening his third personal photo exhibition on October 1 under the title “Flight Dimension.” The exhibition is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of airBaltic, and the photographs have been taken over the last two years to show those moments, which still turn flights into miracles.

„For few thousand people in Latvia and even for millions of people on whole world airplanes and flight handling are everyday routine. But even for more people on the world flying will always mean something more than just a trip from one place to another. And this is the main idea for this exhibition,” says Uldis Peļņa.
„Our dreams, desires, ideas and fantasies do fly every day and most surprising is that our body can do the same thing as well. But for our physical feelings there is a medium – airplane. And that is the reason why airplanes will always tend to be somehow mystical, mysterious and always beautiful in any means of visual appearance,“ adds the photographer.
The exhibition will be opened at 4:00 PM on October 1 at airBaltic Training (the simulator centre). It will remain open until December 15.
Uldis Peļņa was born in 1975 and received his education at the Riga Aviation University, where he studied the technical servicing of airplanes and engines. He’s worked for the Latvian flag carrier airBaltic since 1998. Uldis taught himself to take photographs, and he has tried to expand his horizons in this area of art more and more.
The artist has had two personal exhibitions in the past – “Aviation Close Up” at a gallery in Valmiera in 2007, and “Valmiera – 1,200 Feet” at the Valmiera Cultural Centre in 2008.
