October 1st - International Music Day in Estonia

On October 1, Estonian Music Council will celebrate International Music Day with a grandiose concert programme and music award ceremony in Škoda Ice rink.

During Music Day, more than 147 short concerts will be held throughout Estonia in 37 different towns and settlements. The concerts will have a combined length of 93 hours and over 680 musicians will take part in the programme.

October 1 will feature music and activities from Estonia’s top music collectives, such as the open rehersal of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, led by Neeme Järvi, as well as other professional musicians and young talent. Estonian National Opera invites the public to an open rehersal of the ballet Coppelia, and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre offers open lectures and free classes.

Musicians can be found in very different places during the day – in public transport, banks, shopping centres, churches, national institutions, schools and kindergartens, community centres and in the bases of the Estonian Defence Forces.
