Air Lituanica summer flight map to add Billund destination

Airline company Air Lituanica is to add one more destination to the summer season flight schedule and is to offer flights to the Danish town Billund. This destination shall become the ninth European city that can be reached from Vilnius International Airport with Air Lituanica.

"Currently, the number of Danish tourists to Lithuania ceased to increase therefore we hope that new flights performed 3 times a week shall open up more possibilities for the Danish to visit Lithuania for a short holiday or a weekend-break and discover our wonderful tourist sights. The highest numbers of Danish tourists arrive during the period from May through to September, thus, the new flight schedule is being introduced just in time," – head of the State Department of Tourism Dr. Raimonda Balnienė said.

According to Air Lituanica head of Commerce Simonas Bartkus, Billund destination shall fill the gap of communication between Lithuania and the western part of Denmark: “Billund is located in the central part of the country, from there it is easy to reach the second largest Danish city Aarhus as well as Odense and Aalborg – the third and the fourth largest cities in Denmark. Our intention is to carry 4000 passengers via the new route over the summer and to reinforce tourism and business relations of both countries."

Simonas Bartkus added that the population around the Billund Airport reaches 2.6 million, the airport performs over 60 international routes, and therefore boasts the title of the Western Denmark international airport. The tourists have also known Billund for the famous Legoland – the major entertainment oasis for children.

As of 16 June through to 28 August, the flights from Vilnius International Airport to Billund Airport in Denmark shall be performed 3 times a week. The departure time from Vilnius on Mondays and Thursdays is set at 6.15 pm and on Saturdays – at 9.50 pm. Flight duration is 1 h 45 min.

Air Lituanica summer flight schedule shall be expanded by three new destinations – Billund in Denmark, and Goteborg and Malmo in Sweden. The tickets can already be purchased at prices starting from LTL 99.

Air Lituanica also offers flights from Vilnius International Airport to Berlin, Brussels, Prague, Munich, Paris and Tallinn. The flights are operated by two aircrafts – 86-seat Embraer 175 and 50-seat CRJ 200.
