Latvia registers EU's second steepest increase in hotel occupancy rate

Compared to January-September 2012, the occupancy rate in Latvia's hotels and accommodation facilities grew 4 percent in January-September 2013, the second steepest increase across the European Union, according to the latest data from the EU's statistical office "Eurostat".

The occupancy rate in Latvia's hotels and other accommodation establishments was 41 percent in January-September 2013, slightly below the average figure in the EU.

In comparison with September 2012, the occupancy rate in Latvia's hotels grew 1.3 percent to 38.7 percent in September 2013.

The steepest increase was registered in Greece - 14.6 percent. The occupancy rate in Greece's hotels and other accommodation establishments was the third highest in the EU.

In Lithuania, the occupancy rate grew 1.2 percent to 37.9 percent. In Estonia, the occupancy rate remained unchanged at 46.2 percent.
