More tourists visit Valmiera

Valmiera is becoming more and more appealing as a tourist destination point – last year Valmiera Tourism information centre welcomed 8500 visitors which is 4% more than in 2012. Last year majority of tourists came from Estonia (34%), yet high interest has remained among tourists coming from Germany (12%), Finland (8%) and Russia (7%). Although Valmiera has always been a popular tourist destination point for European tourists, particularly for those coming from the nearest countries, there were also tourists coming from more distant countries, e.g., Australia, United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Canada and Kazakhstan.

As indicated by the Tourism information centre, people coming to Valmiera mainly are interested in seeing Gauja river Steep banks, Valmiermuiža brewery, Dikļi palace, Gauja river tram and much more. Furthermore, it has been observed that more tourists are interested in staying in Valmiera for 2 or more days to visit not only Valmiera but also surrounding districts
