Chorale Music Concert in Riga Dome Cathedral

For several years now, women's choirs from the University of Liepāja, the University of Klaipeda and the University of Vilnius have joined together with the chamber orchestra of the University of Vilnius to offer a cultural exchange programme for students so that they can learn about and perform compositions by distinguished composers from the past and the present day, performing those in Latvia and Lithuania, and thus facilitating close links of friendship between the two Baltic peoples.

The merged women's choir will perform spiritual music composed by Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish and Basque composers. The chamber orchestra of the University of Vilnius, in turn, will perform opuses from the Romanticism-era British composers Charles Hubert Hastings Parry (Lady Radnor's Suite) and Peter Warlock (Capriol Suite). The final piece in the concert will be performed by the choirs and the orchestra - Stanisław Moniuszko's Mass in E minor.
