A website with comprehensive information about
Latvia has been created in cooperation with one of the largest Chinese
newspapers - "China Daily".Latvian Tourism Development Agency (TAVA)
representative Inta Briede explains that the new website contains
information about Latvian traditions, culture, tourism and recreational
opportunities, economic environment, business and investment potential.
website - Global.chinadaily.com.cn/latvia - is in Chinese, created
as a thematic addition to the newspaper's Internet portal with more than
30 million daily visitors.
To become familiar with Latvia and
create an interesting website for the Chinese audience, five "China
Daily" reporters visited Latvia in the middle of June. They interviewed
several high-ranking officials, including Saeima Speaker Solvita
Aboltina (Unity) and Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ojars
Eriks Kalnins (Unity), met with the heads of "Latvijas Finieris" and
"Laima", visited the Freeport of Riga, "Rietumu banka", the School of
Business Administration "Turiba" and the Confucius Center at the Pauls
Stradins Clinical University Hospital, said Briede. She said that the
reporters also visited several towns and cities, including Riga,
Liepaja, Bauska, Cesis and Sigulda, as well as met with representatives
from the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra and the Latvian National Opera. Also
on their tour of Latvia, the reporters visited Rundāle Palace, Turaida
Castle, and many other popular tourist destinations.
