In the Month of Birthday airBaltic Highlights its Employees

As October 2022 marks the 27th anniversary of the Latvian airline airBaltic, the company launches a special video, highlighting employees as its fundamental core. 27 people, representing different age groups, professions and seniority from 0 to 27 years, explain, what airBaltic means to them.
Alīna Aronberga, Senior Vice President Human Resources at airBaltic: “The most valuable asset and investment of the company is always the same – its people. These are our employees, who embody the company's values and share our story and passion for aviation daily, and that is what makes airBaltic proud.”

Currently, airBaltic employs more than 2 050 professionals, of whom around 800 have been recruited in 2022. The most represented professions and areas of activity are cabin crew (>600), pilots (>350), operations and maintenance personnel (>200) and office personnel (>180).
Today members of 29 nationalities work at airBaltic – Latvians, Lithuanians, Spanish, Ukrainians, Estonians, Italians, and other. Furthermore, since the beginning of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, 50 Ukrainians have become employees of the airline.

The average age of people working at airBaltic is 34 years, but the average seniority level reaches 5.5 years. Until now, 8 employees have been working in the company since its establishment in 1995 – for 27 years. The proportion of gender equality is 46% women and 54% men.
airBaltic was established in the early autumn of 1995 with the signing of a joint venture between the Latvian state and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). On October 1, airBaltic operated its first commercial flight, from Riga to Stockholm, with the Saab SF340 aircraft. Throughout October 1995, airBaltic carried 4 400 passengers on 209 flights. During these 27 years, airBaltic has carried a total of over 50 million passengers on more than 841 thousand flights.
