«airBaltic» Celebrates 30 Years in Copenhagen

At the beginning of January 2026, the Latvian airline airBaltic marks the 30th anniversary of the route between its home base in Riga, Latvia, and Copenhagen, Denmark. This was the airline’s third direct service, after launching its first commercial routes from Riga to Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland in October 1995.

Mantas Vrubliauskas, VP Network Management at airBaltic: “Over the past three decades, our flights between both capitals have provided customers with convenient and reliable travel options for both business and leisure. Copenhagen consistently ranks among our top destinations, and this summer season we will further expand our presence there by increasing frequencies to better meet our customers’ needs. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our long-term partners, RIX Riga Airport and Copenhagen Airport, for their continued cooperation and support of airBaltic’s growth.”

Peter Krogsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer of Copenhagen Airport: ”We at CPH wish airBaltic many congratulations on achieving this milestone. We are delighted with the excellent cooperation we have had over these 30 years, and hope to see continued and expanded airBaltic links from CPH to the Baltic region long into the future.”

airBaltic operates up to three daily flights between Riga and Copenhagen at convenient times, offering passengers flexible travel options between the two cities as well as seamless connections via the leading airport in the Baltics to more than 80 destinations across the airline’s network. In total, the airline offers five direct routes to Denmark – from Riga and Tallinn, Estonia to Billund and Copenhagen, as well as from Gran Canaria, Spain to Billund – underscoring the airline’s broader footprint in the Danish market.

airBaltic is the largest airline in the Baltics, operating one of Europe’s youngest fleets with modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Committed to providing passengers with a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience, the airline is the first European carrier to offer free high-speed SpaceX Starlink internet on its flights, with plans to equip its entire fleet. In addition, airBaltic offers both Economy and Business Class on all scheduled flights, allowing customers to choose the option that best suits their travel needs.

Over the past 30 years, airBaltic has evolved into a globally respected carrier. Now the airline is connecting the Baltic States to 80 destinations across Europe and beyond, providing essential infrastructure and global connectivity for the region.
