Today, on 28 August, the Latvian national airline airBaltic celebrates its 30th anniversary. While this day marks the official date of the airline’s founding, a series of special celebratory events and activities will unfold in the coming weeks, culminating on October 1, 2025 – the date of the airline’s first flight in 1995 from Riga to Stockholm.
Pauls Cālītis, Interim CEO of airBaltic: “When airBaltic was founded in 1995, Latvia had only recently regained its independence and urgently needed strong air connectivity with Europe and beyond. With just a few aircraft and a clear sense of purpose, we stepped into that role. Today, airBaltic has become the leading carrier in the Baltics – a trusted and modern airline, serving as an essential link between the region and the world. This achievement rests on the shoulders of nearly 3 000 dedicated colleagues and the trust of millions of passengers over three decades. On behalf of the team, thank you for being part of this journey.”
