Lux Express is expanding its route network for the summer by introducing a new route to Klaipėda starting May 30. Ticket sales will begin on May 14.

“Last year, when we launched our passenger service on the regional route Liepāja–Rīga–Daugavpils, we heard the desire from both the residents of Liepāja and the city leadership to connect these two cities. Now, we’re happy to announce that we can fulfill this wish,” said Aldis Ķibēns, Board Member of Lux Express Latvia.
“The day has come! In Liepāja, we have long awaited a convenient and regular public transport connection with our partner city Klaipėda. There is no doubt that this new route is a major benefit both for Liepāja’s residents and for the city's overall development. Locals often travel to our neighboring country Lithuania, and Lithuanians are already among our most frequent guests,” noted Gunārs Ansiņš, Chairman of the Liepāja City Council.
“This new route will connect not only cities, but people. We warmly invite not only Lithuanians to discover Liepāja, but also our Latvian neighbors to visit Klaipėda – a port city where you can enjoy the Baltic Sea by day and experience cultural events, a cozy old town, or modern venues in the evening. Klaipėda is a welcoming city that invites you on a journey through its history, nature, and vibrant life. In summer, our city comes alive – with international festivals, open-air concerts, art fairs, Sea Festival celebrations, and a cultural and entertainment program suitable for families, youth, and senior travelers. This is the time when Klaipėda becomes an open stage where every visitor can find something special – from classical music concerts to street performers, from museums to seaside evenings. We believe this new route will become another beautiful thread of friendship between our cities and nations,” said Klaipėda’s Mayor Arvydas Vaitkus.
The Lux Express route from Riga to Klaipėda will be available from May 30 to August 31. The journey from Riga to Klaipėda (and vice versa) will take approximately 5 hours and 10 minutes, and from Liepāja to Klaipėda (and back) about 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Buses from Riga to Klaipėda and back will run several times a day:
• From Riga to Klaipėda: 7:00, 11:30, 16:00
• From Klaipėda to Riga: 8:10, 12:55, 17:10
• From Liepāja to Klaipėda: 10:30, 15:00, 19:30
The Lux Express route to Klaipėda offers free bicycle transport. Each bus can carry up to four bicycles, and this service can be reserved during ticket purchase on the Lux Express website at luxexpress.eu.
Tickets are available on the Lux Express website luxexpress.eu and in the Lux Express mobile app.
