According to the Central Statistical Bureau data, which were acquired by compiling the monthly information provided by sector representatives on the activity of tourist accommodations, in September 2025 arrivals at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments totalled 246.8 thousand, which is 6.2 % more than September 2024. The number of nights spent by visitors at tourist accommodation establishments totalled 422.3 thousand, which is 7.4 % more than in September 2024.
As the high season came to an end, in September 2025, compared to August,the number of visitors has decreased by 37.2 % (the number of residents reduced by 40.4 %, but the number of non-residents by 35.1 %), the number of nights spent by them went down by 40.2 % (the number of nights spent by residents reduced by 45.1 %, but the number of nights spent by non-residents by 37.2 %).

The number of non-resident arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments made up 154.7 thousand in September 2025 (62.7 % of all arrivals), which is 7.5 % more than in September 2024. The number of nights spent by non-residents, compared to September last year, has grown by 9.7 % and comprised 275.9 thousand. Non-residents on average spent 1.8 nights1 at the tourist accommodation establishments (1.8 nights also in September last year).
The majority of non-resident visitors came from Lithuania (20.3 thousand), Germany (16.7 thousand), Estonia (13.4 thousand), Finland (10.4 thousand), United Kingdom (9.2 thousand), Poland (7.7 thousand), USA (6.9 thousand), Spain (6.6 thousand), Sweden (6.0 thousand) and Norway (4.7 thousand).
The number of visitors from Serbia (5.3 times), Turkey (4.1 times) and Greece (2.5 times) has increased significantly.
The majority of non-residents stayed in Riga (74.5 %), which was followed by Jūrmala (7.8 %), Mārupe municipality (3.5 %), Liepāja (2.6 %), Sigulda municipality (1.8 %), and Cēsis municipality (1.3 %).
In September 2025 tourist accommodation establishments hosted 92.0 thousand, which is a year-over-year increase of 4.2 %. Resident visitors spent 146.5 thousand nights at the establishments (3.3 % more), and the average duration of resident stay was 1.6 nights (1.6 nights also a year ago).
Mostly residents stayed in Riga (31.7 %), Jūrmala (8.3 %), Liepāja (5.8 %), Cēsis municipality (5.1 %), Daugavpils (4.1 %), Kuldīga municipality (2.9 %) and Tukums municipality (2.8 %).
In September, average room occupancy rate of hotels and similar accommodation2 in Latvia was 48.7 % (a year-over-year rise of 2.7 percentage points), 63.3 % – in Riga (a year-over-year increase of 3.1 percentage points).
In Q3 2025, the number of non-resident and resident visitors in Latvian tourist accommodation establishments comprised 1.0 million, which is 3.1 % more than in Q3 2024. As compared to Q3 2024, the number of nights spent by visitors has risen by 4.6 % and comprised 1.9 million nights.
In Q3 2025 the number of non-resident visitors comprised 628.3 thousand, which is 3.7 % more than in Q3 2024. The number of nights spent by them has risen by 6.5 % and comprised 1.2 million. In turn, the number of resident visitors comprised 416.9 thousand, which is 2.1 % more than in Q3 2024. Number of nights spent by them comprised 707.6 thousand – 1.5 % more, compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
In the nine months of 2025 the number of visitors in Latvian tourist accommodation establishments comprised 2.2 million, which is 4.9 % more than in the first nine months of 2024. The number of nights spent by visitors has grown by 6.7 % and comprised 4.0 million nights. Out of all visitors hosted 1.3 million or 59.5 % were non-residents, but 910.9 thousand or 40.5 % were residents.
Methodological information
The information is compiled from the data provided by the respondents in the monthly Report on the activity of hotels and other accommodation establishments (CSB form 1-Accommodation). Economically active individual merchants and commercial companies whose main kind of economic activity corresponds to NACE Rev. 2.1 classes 55.10, 55.20, 55.30, as well as other merchants, budgetary institutions, associations, farms, and individuals providing short-term accommodation services in tourist accommodation establishments (also in addition to their main kind of economic activity in another sector) are included in the survey as respondents. In September the data on 1 192 accommodations was compiled.
1 If during a trip visitor stays overnight in several places in Latvia, he/she is registered in each tourist accommodation.
