According to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau, in March 2025 the number of non-residents and residents comprised 167.5 thousand, which is 2 % more than in March 2024. Visitors spent 290.8 thousand nights at the establishments, and that is 3.9 % more than in March 2024. In turn, the number of visitors in Latvian tourist accommodation establishments in Q 1 was 9 % more than in Q1 2024.

In March 2025, out of all visitors 57.4 % or 96.1 thousand were non-residents, which is 4.6 % more than in March last year. The number of nights spent by non-residents, compared to March last year, has grown by 6.1 % and comprised 171.9 thousand. Non-residents on average spent 1.8 nights at the tourist accommodation establishments1 (also 1.8 nights in March last year).
The majority of non-residents came from Lithuania (16.2 thousand), Estonia (12 thousand), United Kingdom (9.3 thousand), Germany (6.9 thousand), Finland (5.5 thousand), Poland (4.4 thousand), Sweden (3.4 thousand), USA (3.2 thousand), Spain (2.8 thousand), Ukraine (2.7 thousand) and Norway (2.6 thousand).
Most non-residents stayed in Riga – 80.8 %, Jūrmala – 5.3 %, Mārupe municipality – 3.8 % and Liepāja – 2.2 %.
In March 2025, 71.5 thousand residents stayed at tourist accommodation establishments, which is 1.2 % less than in March last year. The number of nights spent by them comprised 118.8 thousand, which is a rise of 1 %, compared to the respective month last year. Residents on average spent 1.7 nights at the tourist accommodation establishments (1.6 nights in March last year).
Mostly residents stayed in Riga (33.7 %), Jūrmala (13.7 %), Liepāja (7.8 %), Daugavpils (4.5 %), Cēsis municipality (3.5 %), Valmiera municipality (3 %) and Sigulda municipality (2.6 %).
Average room occupancy rate of hotels and similar accommodation in Latvia was 35 % in March (a rise of 0.9 percentage points, compared to March 2024), 43.6 % – in Riga (an increase of 1.4 percentage points, compared to March of the previous year).
In Q1 2025 the number of non-resident and resident arrivals at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments comprised 460.7 thousand, which is 9 % more than in Q1 2024. As compared to Q1 of the previous year, the number of nights spent by visitors has risen by 10.8 % and comprised 802.8 thousand nights. Visitors spent an average of 1.7 nights at tourist accommodation establishments.
In Q1 the number of non-residents comprised 265.8 thousand, which is 16.3 % more than in Q1 of the previous year. The number of nights spent by them has risen by 18.5 % and comprised 483.9 thousand. In turn, the number of Latvian residents comprised 195 thousand, which is 0.5 % more than in Q1 2024. Number of nights spent by them comprised 318.8 thousand – 0.8 % more, compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
