Exhibition of sound art Skan II

All throughout the summer, as part of the European Capital of Culture year in Riga, the exhibition of sound art "Skan II" will offer city residents and guests the opportunity to acquaint themselves with innovative contemporary art forms, which at the same time will remind about Riga’s unique architectural heritage.

Persons attending "Skan II" will have the opportunity to see and hear the work of some of the world’s top sound art musicians/artists. Sound art is something that can be heard, as well as visual-art when the creation is presented in a certain space. Over the past several years, sound art has developed into an important contemporary art form, which intertwines several genres.

The exhibition itself will be held at the University of Latvia’s Botanical Gardens, at the gallery inside the Kalnciems Quarter, as well as in the natural environment of Riga throughout the city. The exhibition will open on May 30 and will go until the end of the summer.

The "Skan II" exhibition of sound art has been included in the European Capital of Culture year’s "Thirst for the Ocean" series of events.
