34% More Foreign Tourists Visited Riga in January Compared to Last Year

In January 2025, Riga welcomed 69,406 foreign visitors, representing a 34% increase compared to January 2024, when the number of visitors was 51,611. In total, foreign tourists spent 123,626 overnight stays, which is 35% more than during the same period last year.

The highest number of visitors came from Lithuania, with 8,911 guests. Estonia ranked second, with 8,745 visitors, marking a 50% increase compared to the previous year. The United Kingdom was in third place, with 6,883 visitors and a 33% increase. The number of visitors from Germany in January was 4,589, reflecting an 18% growth, while 3,450 visitors from Finland arrived in Riga, representing a 41% increase.

The highest growth rate was observed among visitors from Denmark, where the number of tourists increased by 90%, followed by Norway with a 75% increase, Sweden with 43%, Finland with 41%, and Estonia with a 50% rise.

The largest number of overnight stays was recorded among Lithuanian visitors, who spent 13,867 nights, and Estonian visitors, who stayed 14,019 nights. British tourists spent 12,635 overnight stays, while German tourists recorded 8,707 overnight stays. French tourists spent a total of 3,066 nights in Riga.
