Lithuania offers global tourism initiative #LithuaniaTravel

The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation (EIMIN), together with "Lithuania Travel", has launched a new social media tourism game called #LithuaniaTravel. The goal is to raise global awareness about Lithuania and invite more visitors to explore the country. Participants will have the chance to win two-day trips through Lithuania’s ethnographic regions.

“To attract more tourists to Lithuania, increase the country’s visibility internationally, and encourage local tourism, we are running marketing campaigns like #LithuaniaTravel. We invite everyone traveling around Lithuania to join in – capture your most memorable moments, encourage your friends to discover new experiences, become tourism ambassadors, and help grow inbound tourism,” says Vice Minister of Economy and Innovation Agila Barzdienė.

The game is open to everyone, including Lithuanian residents, people of Lithuanian descent, and foreign citizens currently living abroad. To take part, participants simply need to upload photos of Lithuanian scenery to Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, tag them with #LithuaniaTravel, and share them with their followers.

The competition will run until September 25 this year. Three winners will be chosen at random and announced on September 27, which is World Tourism Day.

Winners will receive a travel package that includes a visit to at least one of Lithuania’s ethnographic regions, a selection of two experiences from categories such as nature, culture, wellness, gastronomy, or family-friendly tourism, and accommodation – either a one-night stay for two in a hotel with a minimum three-star rating or two nights at a "four-stork" rural tourism homestead.

In addition, local tourism information centers will award prizes to those who share the most photos featuring the tourist destinations they represent.
Last year’s first campaign, #LithuaniaCo-create, took place from June to September 2024. It reached nearly two million social media users, with more than 1,500 people sharing messages about Lithuania and inviting others to visit.
