Seaside Open Air Museum to hold celebration of Shrovetide in Ventspils

Ventspils Seaside Open Air Museum warmly invites you to attend a celebration of Shrovetide on Saturday, February 22, from 12.00 midday till 2.00 pm.

Shrovetide is set to be celebrated together with Creativity House's Theatre Studio "Savejie" (leader Ineta Kalnina), which has undertaken to entertain visitors with songs, games, dances and extremely tricky estafettes.

When saying goodbye to winter on Shrovetide, you should not forget the ability to enjoy the small things, such as the opportunity to make your own lucky button at the Smiltnieki House that, once sewn to the right place, will definitely bring you happiness at least until the next Shrovetide.

The Smiltini family will make delicious, round pancakes in the outdoors for visitors to enjoy. Costumes and masks are encouraged. Those who come dressed as cranes, long women, small men, bears or other traditional Shrovetide characters will receive small, yet really nice surprise gifts.

The museum will serve hot tea to help you warm up. Those who crave for something more substantial are encouraged to bring with them some sausages to roast over a bonfire.

Admission fees: EUR 1.42 (LVL 1.00); EUR 0.57 (LVL 0.40)
