  • Riga, the third of the six European routes of the Iberia Express summer program, is a new destination for Iberia Group

The Airbus A320 of Iberia Express with flight number I2 2601 has taken off this morning at 06:45 from the Riga International Airport directed to Madrid. This is the third of the six European destinations that the airline will operate in its summer program and an important milestone because this is a new route for Iberia Group.
Until the 4th of September, Iberia Express will operate the Riga-Madrid route with tickets from
99 Euros and two weekly frequencies (Tuesdays and Saturdays).
Iberia Express currently operates a fleet of A-320 airplanes from Madrid to twelve domestic
destinations (Alicante, Malaga, Seville, Granada, Palma de Majorca, Ibiza, Menorca, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Palma), and three European
destinations (Dublin, Naples and Riga), amounting to four when the Mikonos route starts on
Saturday . The 20th of July the company will fly to Edinburgh and in September it will do to
Amsterdam. All these direct flights are also connected from Madrid to the Iberia connection
network, that offers multiple domestic and international destinations, such as USA and Latin-
America.
Iberia Express, a subsidiary of Iberia, operates short and medium haul routes and is expecting to close 2012 with more than 20 national and European destinations, a fleet of 14 aircraft and a workforce of approximately 500 employees. The airline also provides direct traffic to feed
Iberia's long haul network and offers all the services of its parent company. Iberia Express is a
member of oneworld, an alliance of eleven airlines offering passengers a fleet of 2,000 aircraft
with 8,500 daily flights to 570 international destinations around the world in 135 countries.
