Riga Airport Passenger Numbers Reach 3.2 Million in the First Half of the Year

RIX Riga Airport served 3.2 million passengers in the first half of 2024, exceeding the previous year's figure by 4 percent. In June, 667 thousand passengers used Riga Airport for their trips, which is 5 % more than a year earlier.

The increase in the number of passengers has been facilitated by the wide and varied range of direct connections from Riga, which is attractive not only to Latvians, but to all Baltic travellers. Riga Airport is consistently the largest air traffic hub in the Baltics with 40 % of the total number of passengers served at all Baltic airports.

In terms of the number of flights served, Riga is also the leader compared to the airports of the capitals of the other Baltic states: RIX served 38 percent of all flights in the first half of the year, Tallinn – 27 %, and Vilnius – 28 %. A total of 9 percent of flights were served at Kaunas and Palanga airports in Lithuania.

In terms of the number of direct passengers, Riga Airport exceeds the pre-pandemic indicators by a few percent, both in the last month and in the past six months.

Taking care of the comfort of the Airport's customers and guests, in the first half of the year several new sales points were opened at Riga Airport, including a new café and a self-service kiosk for buying flowers; new services are also being developed. A baggage delivery time monitoring system was implemented in the baggage claim hall at the beginning of May, which allows passengers to monitor the status of baggage delivery.

In 2024, RIX Riga Airport expects to serve 7.2 million passengers.
