Sixt implements bicycle sharing service in Tallinn

Starting from today, October 20th, 2016 residents and guests of Tallinn city will be able to use new bicycle sharing service - 100 rental bicycles will be available in 15 rental stations 24/7. First 30 minutes of the service is free of charge. Bicycle sharing service allows to take the bicycle in one rental station and return in another one, thus substantially easing the getting around the city.
This service is provided by Sixt which is one of the leading car rental service providers in Estonia and all over the world. Andrus Baida, Country manager of Sixt Estonia: “Bicycle sharing service provision in Tallinn is a logical development step for Sixt in expansion of its rental service choice.  All over the globe bicycle sharing service is a part of the city infrastructure and allows not only to go around the city by bicycle and support green thinking, but it is also a great alternative to private bicycles. Currently Sixt bicycle rental service has been available only in Riga and Jurmala, but Tallinn gets to have the most advanced bicycle rental system.”
Before using the service, all users must register on the Sixt bicycle rental webpage www.sixtbicycle.ee, on an app for Nextbike iOS, Android and Windows Phone users or by calling +372 7676768. First 30 minutes of the ride are free of charge. Price for each following hour is 1.00 euro, but not more than 10 euros per day. Payment can be made by VISA, Mastercard or American Express credit cards.
In the season of 2016 bicycles will be available until the average outside temperature will be higher than 0 degrees Celsius. In 2017 bicycle season will begin simultaneously with the appropriate weather conditions.  It is planned that together with the beginning of the new rental season clients will be offered with a more convenient authorization and payment system.  
Bicycle rental stations will be available in different areas of Tallinn: one at Pirita near Russalka and Tallinn University, multiple places in the old town and Telliskivi creative area. It is planned to regularly increase bicycle rental stations according to the demand.

Bicycle sharing works in an international bicycle-sharing system Nextbike, which is one of the leading service providers in the world. There are more than 30 000 bicycles available in 18 countries of four continents of the world, including Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey and others, there are more than 30 000 bicycles available. From August, 2013 Sixt provides bicycle sharing service in Riga and Jurmala providing more than 250 bicycles in more than 30 rental stations.
