Tallinn romances the Nordic regions

During these worrying times there is some good cheer for those in search of romance. A leading survey has found that Tallinn is the most satisfying and romantic city in the Nordic region.

Norden undertook “Experience design in city tourism” project, a large comparative interview study of more than 5000 tourists in August 2007.

The study gathered as much relevant information about the tourists as possible including such things as; inspiration sources, reasons to go, motivations, experience, specific activities, and image of the city. The survey also looked at background variables such as age, travel group and gender. This study has benchmarked 14 cities in many different aspects which gives each city an opportunity to analyse its strengths and weaknesses. Cities participating in the Norden survey were; Copenhagen, Aarhus, Malmo, Uppsala, Stockholm, Turku, Reykjavik, Riga, Vilnius, Oslo, Bergen, Helsinki, Tampere and Tallinn.
Tallinn emerged as the most satisfying city, seducing tourists with its atmosphere. The city also scored highly (65.5%) as a romantic destination ahead of both Vilnius and Riga.
Historical and sightseeing spots were highly appreciated by tourists in the all three Baltic capitals. Tallinn scored 56.2% for design and architecture.
