Internationally significant Aglona includes sacred buildings of the basilica, the sacred spring, monastery, the sacred square and the cemetery of Aglona. Aglona’s Basilica area is 1,760 m2 and a cellar is about as wide (total area 3,186 m2)

The first historical sources of Aglona belonging to the Christian culture are already mentioned in the stories of 1263 when King Mindaugas (Lithuania's first king) and his sons were killed there. Legend tells that Mindaugas tombs can be found in Aglona
