Autumn to bring more flights from Lithuania to Denmark

The airline Air Lituanica adds Billund to its schedule of regular flights. The flights to the town of Denmark launched during the summer season will remain on the schedule twice a week.

“Our insights that the destination of Billund would fill the gap of communication with West Denmark proved to be right," says Air Lituanica Chief Commercial Officer Simonas Bartkus. "Until now only flights to Copenhagen have been operated from Vilnius Airport to Denmark. We therefore predicted that Air Lituanica would carry 4 thousand passengers on the new route during the summer season.” Forecasts proved to be accurate: 1 800 passengers have already been carried over the first month, with aircraft loading amounting to 76%.

Billund is situated in the central part of the country. From there it is convenient to reach Aarhus, the second largest city of Denmark, as well as Odense and Aalborg, the third and the fourth largest cities in Denmark. 2.6 million people reside in the environs of Billund Airport. The airport operates over 60 international routes; hence, it boasts the title of West Denmark’s international airport. Tourists have also known Billund for the famous Legoland – the major entertainment oasis for children. A convenient geographic location of Billund creates the demand for flights and a diverse passenger profile. Simonas Bartkus notes that the passengers on this route are arriving tourists, Lithuanians heading to Legoland as well as businessmen or emigrants.

Summer flights to Billund were launched on 16 June; starting from 30 August, they will be operated from Vilnius Airport regularly, twice a week. The departure time from Billund is 14.35 on Wednesdays and15.35 on Saturdays. Flight duration is 1 hour 45 min.Flights will be operated by aircraft Embraer 175.

Air Lituanica operates fights from Vilnius Airport to Berlin, Brussels, Prague, Munich, Paris and Tallinn. During the summer season the airline flies to Gothenburg and Malmö and is going to launch flights to Amsterdam from 31 August.
