Nordic walking is defined as fitness walking with specially designed poles. During the Nordic walk upper body and arms are employed, which improves blood circulation and hence the functioning of heart. Nordic walking helps to release tension in the shoulder and neck area, and during the Nordic walking the impact on the joints is about 30% less than in running. Nordic walking is a way how to effectively and easily improve the human physical form. Anyone, regardless of age, gender or physical fitness can do Nordic walking. Nordic walking produces up to a 46% increase in energy consumption compared to walking without poles. Nordic walking contributes a reduction of stress hormones and trains 4 of 5 main body functions: endurance, strength, flexibility and coordination – everything, except for speed.
