June to bring new airlines and new routes to Lithuanian airports

Though the summer season in aviation began at the end of March, most of regular seasonal flights at Lithuanian airports will start in June. Vilnius and Palanga airports will each welcome the arrival of two new airlines; flights favoured by travellers will also come back for the summer season.

"There is much hustle and bustle at Lithuanian airports from June to August. Every day we greet plenty of passengers who start their holidays with a trip abroad. We hope that the new routes will broaden their air travel possibilities and bring even more positive emotions," said Indrė Baltrušaitienė, Head of Communications and Marketing at Lithuanian Airports.

We will welcome our first new airline at Vilnius Airport on the 2nd of June when the Swiss airline Germania launches regular flights to Zürich. Flights will be operated on Mondays and Thursdays. Air service between Lithuania and Switzerland is re-launched after a pause of eight years.

The second new airline – Vueling – will arrive at Vilnius Airport on the 29th of June. With a once-a-week flight on the Vilnius-Barcelona route, the Spanish airline will improve connectivity between Lithuania and Spanish resorts. The airline, which will operate on Wednesday mornings, will provide travellers with broad opportunities of connecting flights from Barcelona.

Thanks to the huge popularity among Lithuanians last year, Ukraine International Airlines bring back flights from Vilnius to Odessa from St. John’s Day. This year flights will again be operated twice a week – on Fridays and Sundays, providing an opportunity to spend a weekend by the Black Sea rather than the Baltic Sea. The flights will be available by 11 September.

Palanga Airport will welcome all new seasonal flights on the same day, the 19th of June, with Belavia and Ukraine International Airlines starting their flights and the Russian airline Rusline re-launching its flights for the summer.

Belavia will operate on the route Palanga-Minsk once a week, on Sundays, until the 4th of September. While planning its flights, the airline changed the aircraft type for several times – due to an immense interest of passengers from Minsk, it was changed into a more spacious aircraft.

Ukraine International Airlines will fly between Palanga and Kyiv by the 21st of September. Flights will be operated twice a week – on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Rusline is already well familiar with Palanga Airport. The airline will operate on the Palanga-Moscow route during the summer season for the fifth consecutive year. Like before, flights are planned to take place once a week – on Sundays. This year Rusline will operate flights to the Lithuanian seaside by the 28th of August.
